Emergency Notification System
Heads Up Community is a FREE smartphone app which can be downloaded from either the Google Play Store or Apple's App Store.
- Users participate anonymously in Heads Up. No personal or location ifnormation about a user is collected.
- You can select which categories of information you wish to be notified of!
- Any alert can be shared through any Social Media, Text Messaging, Email, etc. depending on the types of applications on your device. The information in the alert cannot be modified during a share.
- Alerts come as push notifications. This means as long as the device has a provider signal or Wi-Fi, it will receive the alert.
- Alerts are generated by authroized personnel within Jackson County. The "delegates" or their designees can geernate alerts from a web brower or from the app iteself. Only Autorized Delegates have credentials to send alerts.
- Integrated public alerts and wraning system alerts from FEMA (weather, national emergencies, etc) come straight to your phone.
What Do I Do Once I Download the App?
- Select WV from the State Categories
- Click on Jackson tab (the icon should turn green)
- Scroll down to the Emergency Categories
- Choose the ones you want to receive alerts from (once selected they will turn green)
- Scroll down to the Communities Categories
- Choose the ones you want to receive alerts from (once selected they will turn green)
- You are set up in Heads Up!
